2017 National Championship Run

Since establishing themselves in 2012, the San Marcos Greys had their greatest success during their 2016-17 campaign. The Greys went 8-2 in the Central division, with a point differential of 450 points. The club from San Marcos found themselves fighting with 31 other teams in the nation for a chance at a National Championship. But the first stop was the Red River Rugby Conference Championship in Tulsa, OK. Where they first had to face off against, H.U.R.T., a club out of Houston(TX) where they won, 91-5,in the round of 32.  After a blowout win as underdogs, the Greys moved forward to the round of 16, as the final of RRRCC.

In their way was a scrappy team from Shreveport (LA) but the boys in blue and grey won in style, 62-15. For their first ever, Division III R.R.R.C., 15's Championship.  The Red River Champions then set their eyes on the Mighty Oaks of Chico Hills (CA) as they travel to Tuscon, AZ for the  start of United States Rugby Playoff. The Greys won a tough match, 46-12, to advance to the National Semi-final. The Greys fought hard but ultimately lost to the soon-to-be Division 3 National Champions. Finishing their sensational season as the most dominating D3 club in the state of Texas, the Red River Conference as well as finishing as one of Top 3 clubs in the United States.

2017-2018 looks very special for the San Marcos Greys as they are stepping up to Division II from Division III play while adding a Division IV side, as well.
